All liberties (or ‘rights’, if you prefer) that apply to a single person confer with a set of responsibilities that may be challenged at any time by any second person. Rights are not universal, they are granted by the character and common thought of other humans in a society at times and conditions deemed appropriate to the nature of the liberty. In the case of many societies, liberties are codified as principals in foundational documents, commonly referred to singularly as a constitution. From the constitutional principals, a person of group of persons establishes a set of laws within which people may exist and settle the inevitable conflicts peaceably. In this blog I will present my own opinion on a small number of liberties granted to persons who are citizens of the United States of America.
